What Is Contentment?

What does it mean to be content?
There are times in my life when I’m bored, or I want to get out of the house. It’s during those times that the devil prowls around like a lion, seeking whom he may devour. (1st Peter 5:8)
When we were younger…even now, my parents tell us that if were ever bored, or they even hear us say that, they will have us pull weeds. I know, none of us kids liked it, but that was always the chore that we had to do if we were ever bored.
My great-Aunt Pearl whom is 103 years old told our family a few years ago, “Idleness is the Devil’s playground”…meaning that that’s where Satan loves to attack us. When we are board, Satan will take that, and turn it around by putting evil thoughts into our heads, or by merely keeping us dis-content.

In Philippians 4:11 Paul says, “…for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content."

Also in 1st Timothy 6:6, "Now Godliness with contentment is great gain."

A real conversation took place between a real young man and a very real Jesus. And Jesus’ instruction for him was hard, so hard, that he turned away, and refused to yield. Application: Beloved, what if Jesus spoke to your discontented soul this morning; what if you had a very real conversation with a very real God, and the Holy Spirit spoke to your discontented soul and said, yet thou lackest one thing. Go, and sell all that you have, and give the proceeds to others, and THEN you shall have treasure in heaven. Would it be enough? Could you be contented with treasures in heaven in the life to come, and nothing on earth in this life? We sing,
I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
But are they meaningless, religious words that we utter, or, do we truly mean them? Could it be, that we have the very same heart problem, that this young man had?
Take the time to think and to ponder...the next time that you feel dis-content
try to pray to God and ask for peace that passes all understanding.

I want to run!!!

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator
of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is
unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he
increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall
exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint."
~Isaiah 40:28-31

This is my prayer!!!
"Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one receives the prize?
So run that you may obtain it."
~1st Corinthians 9:24

"...and let us run with endurance the race that God set before us...By keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus on whom our faith depends."
~Hebrews 12:1-2

Anything It Takes!!!

When we tell God that we surrender...what do we mean?
Do we mean, "God, you can take this part of my life, but I'm not ready
to give you the rest?" or do we really mean, "Take it all!!!"
Surrendering to God is yes, a hard thing, but you know what?...once you do give it
to God, don't you feel peace?

There was a time in my life where I was lonely, miserable, and sad. It wasn't until I totally
surrendered everything to God that I felt peace.
Give your desires, heart, soul, mind, and strength to God.

I've attached a video by Paul Washer, and it's called, "Live for Eternity".
I would love it if you can take 3 minutes, and think about what Paul Washer has to say.

Pro Life vs. Pro Choice

It's very sad when I hear that women and even young ladies all over the world
are having abortions. It bothers me.
In the Bible, in Exodus 20 it talks about the ten commandments, and one
of the commandments are: "You shall not Murder!!!"
Many people have different opinions about this, for instance, some people think that
the baby isn't considered "human" or a "baby" until birth.
A friend of our said the other night, "You know what's really sad? People are crying
and upset about all the people that were killed during 9/11, and yet they don't care that
a baby was killed inside a mother's womb by choice."

There was a post that I had posted a few weeks ago about Psalm 139, and how God
loves us, and has a purpose and a plan for our lives. This is exactly the same with abortion.
God loves children!!! Children are a blessing and a heritage of the Lord! (psalm 127)

By God's grace we adopted our little, "Elijah"!!! We got him when he was 9 months old.
Let's just say for a minute that Elijah's mother was considering having an abortion when she was pregnant with him...he wouldn't be here today, would he?
I am thankful to God that Elijah has been placed in our family!!!

I don't know how many of you have ever heard of "Vision Forum" or not, but Doug Phillips is
the president of it. His wife, "Bealle" wouldn't be here today if her mom hadn't chosen life over death. That's right! Bealle's mother was considering having an abortion, but instead she chose life!!! She knew she couldn't take care of the child, so she gave Bealle up for adoption. Yes indeed Bealle Phillips was adopted!

It just goes to show you, how much of an impact, a little decision can make.
Choose Life!!!

We take the Time to Remember 9/11

Today marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
9/11 was the day that no one would forget.
As I recall that day, was unbelievable.
My mom had just gotten off the phone from my dad, and she ran downstairs
with tears in her eyes. She turned on the T.V. and what I saw was shocking.
I saw millions, and thousands of people dying right in front of my eye.
I saw people crying, yelling, and screaming out in pain.
I saw the most horrifying thing ever...The World Trade Center completely
and utterly being destroyed.

After my mom turned off the T.V., and we went immediately to our church
in town. The women were getting together and praying like they had never prayed before.
Today, we remember those that died saving others, and those that died in vain.
There were many questions raised that day...but the one that was the most was...Why?
Why would God let this happen, and Why didn't He do something about it?
We may never know, but I do know one thing...it's a part of God's plan.
Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God..."

The God of Love:

As we think of the lives that are lost
regarding as nothing at all
The heartache and agony of those that are left
The devastation of the fall

The children left without a mum
to embrace them when they cry
The many alone without a daddy
To tuck them in bed at night

The parents also left to grieve
for the children they have lost
Husbands and wives also weep
paying an unbelievable cost

There is hope, a glimpse of light
amidst these darkened days
Our Lord Jesus who loves us so much
and hears when we kneel to pray

He can bring healing to the hurting heart
and comfort to those who weep
He is the strength that we can receive
For His love is ever so deep

Still were left wondering how this happened
and why all this needless grief
So many questions remain unanswered
we just need to have faith and believe

That our loving God is still in control
Though the remnants of terror remain
the broken lives and shattered dreams
The unspoken anguish and pain

He knows full well how we are feeling
He identifies grief with us
We can be sure He loves us so
For He is a God of LOVE.

In The Maker's Hands Part 2

In Hebrew, the word for "Potter" is: yatsar. -(yaw-tsar')
It Means: to mould into a form, frame, to make purpose.
I thought that it was interesting that Potter means "To make Purpose".
God designed us with a purpose, and he had a plan and a purpose when he created
us and moulded us into a human being.

I thought that it was quite interesting that when the Bible talks about
"You Formed me in my mother's womb..."(Psalm 139) "Form" is also
the same Hebrew word as Potter..."To make Purpose". God had a purpose for you
when he formed you. Replace the "Formed" with "To Make Purpose"...it is now:
"You created me with Purpose in my mother's womb."

Jeremiah 18 3-6, "...So I went down to the potter's house, and there he was working
at his wheel. And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand,
and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.
Then the word of the Lord came to me: O house of Israel, can I not do with you
as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter's hands,
so are you in my hand, O house of Israel."

  • I know that I've been posting a lot of video's, but hey, I love this one too!
It's called, "God's Chisel", by the Skit Guys. My Uncle showed me this two years ago,
    and Wow! is it powerful.
  • As you watch this video keep in mind that you are still "God's Masterpiece", and that
He is still "Working" in you, and "Molding" you to be like Him.

In the Maker's Hands Part 1

In the Bible we are constantly referred to as "The Clay".
Here are a few verses that I love that talk about the Potter and the clay.

Isaiah 64:8, "But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and you are our
Potter; And all we are the work of your hands."

Jeremiah 18:6, " 'O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?'
says the Lord. 'Look, as the clay is in the Potter's hands, so are you in my hand,
O house of Israel!' "

Romans 9:21, "Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump
to make one vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?"
