Complaining

  This last week, I was in Colorado visiting my family. While there, I attended our state homeschool conference. On one of the nights, we decided to head on over to Burger King for dinner. While waiting in line to order, I noticed only 2 employee's that were working there. There was no one else. There was one employee who was taking the order, and making them, and another in the back helping fill the other orders. 

     I couldn't help but marvel at how quickly they worked to get things done, without a grunt or complain, or sigh. It wasn't until a family behind us started complaining about how long everything was taking, that I began to think in my head, "Wow! We're such complainers in this day and age. When we want things, we want them now, not in 5 minutes or 5 days, but now. We go through drive thru's, and get upset when they take too long. We order things online, and are upset when they don't arrive on time. It reminds me of the Israelites in Exodus 16:2, "Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness..." and again we see them complain in chapter 15:24, and in 17:3. On and on, over and over. They're never content. Aren't we all such complainers?

     Now don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not perfect by all means! I complain... a lot! But, I have no reason to complain about anything. I have a wonderful husband that loves me for who I am, I have a roof over my head, a car to drive, food to eat, water to drink freely, the Word of God to read, and a husband who has a job that he works hard at to provide for me to get things, such as a Burger, or a coffee, or ice cream. I don't have anything to complain about, but I do. Why is that? Because I'm a sinner. I'm  not justifying that because I'm a sinner, it's right... because it's not. I need to remind myself more often of all Gods many blessings that He's bestowed upon such a wretched sinner as I, who's unworthy of everything! The next time that I feel like complaining, I need to remember that I'm a wretched sinner, and that I have nothing to complain about. In what ways help you to to overcome complaining? Scripture Memorization and the CHEC conference

This past week, we had our annual CHEC conference. I went to a speaker who talked about Scripture Memorization. If you know me, you know that it's hard for me to remember things, much less memorize them. However, I know how important God's word should be, so I
decided to go to this speaker

He talked about getting our priorities straight. Don't make excuses to memorize scripture! If you don't have time in your day, set your alarm 15 minutes earlier, and read the Bible until you've memorized just 1 verse. If you love your sleep too much to give up 15 minutes, write a sticky note of a verse and put it on your bathroom mirror, brushing your teeth while you memorize the verse.
Set a standard! If you can only do 1 verse a day, then go for it! If you can only
do 1 verse a week, go for it!

Reading, Studying, and Memorizing the Bible is important! How can you defend God's word, unless you know it?!
The verse I memorized: Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
Try to memorize scripture. Make it a part of your day! You have to want to do it!

2 Timothy 3:14-17 ESV
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."

Job 36:12 ESV
 "But if they do not listen, they perish by the sword and die without knowledge."

The Super Conference!

Hi Everyone! Sorry for not posting in forever!
The Super Conference (or CHEC Conference) is something that our family look forward to every single year!!! It's a time when we get to listen to speakers without interruption, talk to friends old and new, and shop around for books, audio, movies, and other fun things. And yes, spend money...! Thursday was the first day, and it was so exciting! I barely got any sleep the night before because I was so excited. I was a volunteer for the conference the last few years, and wanted to do so again. So I helped the,"Gibas" family with preparing the meals, for the speakers, volunteers, and those who payed for it.

I love to serve, so this was an amazing opportunity! I had a wonderful time talking to all the girls/moms there.
Ken Ham, Kevin Swanson, and a few others were the main speakers...amazing! My dad did a silent Auction Fundraiser while we were there, and we made over $2,000 for CHEC!!!

I had a wonderful time!!! I even got to hold some new babies!
Saturday, I received some wonderful news! I help this family out whom has 7 kids (1 on the
way until tomorrow) and she wants me to be at the birth!!! I am so excited! I'll let you know how it all goes...I'll post more later.
